Boise boxing!

We were not able to spend as much time as we'd hoped out boxing, but we found all we looked for and had fun.  RocktheNater especially loved the series we looked for.  He thought it was "sick" or is that "sic?"  Not sure, but whatever it is- he loved it.

Taking it all in at Beaus Pond

We hid one, found one & loved the time there!

Sacajawea finding got me a MOOSE!

I love moose.  Imagine me finding a letterbox & a moose all at once!!  I was completely elated.  And super bummed because my dang camera was in our suitcases and not up front with me!  We were on our way to Boise, and spotted him just south east of Salmon, literally 100yrds or less from where I had nabbed our first box of the weekend.

Finally found & the boxers go wild!

Cowboy Joe & Mountain Sue get a little crazy after finding a box we've searched for over 6 times.

Whirlwind Wyoming 'Boxing

Well, those 2.5 days of letterboxing, mixed in with rain, snow, more rain, more snow, wind, cold, and even more rain- made for a not so happy letterboxing adventure. However, perhaps we could be called HARD CORE letterboxers now!

We boxed with Nater's dad, which we were meeting in Cheyenne, WY, but got switched up some due to weather & vehicle issues. Mostly weather. But we had some interesting experiences- including almost getting our cars towed and a very angry chef. Getting soaked to the bone and barely being able to stamp because we were so wet and cold our hands wouldn't work. We split up and Nater went with his dad to places unknown for the summer & we continued up and around to get back to Monatana.

Kootenai Creek Trailhead

Mix in a great trailhead, pretty mountains, picnic & a letterbox or two and you'll know what our family did to celebrate Mothers Day!
It's what I wanted to do.

Balance Rock

The guys did go all the way up and tried to push it off. J said that a guy once tried to blow it up and they had to go in and fix it. Which led to a discussion on what we'd do if it did fall over.
I think the box would survive though, one of the entries said it survived a fire!

Cute green troll

Well, wouldn't you know it- I didn't go out prepare, and this one needed help I couldn't totally give. Water logged! But, the book was there and so was the stamp. I turned everything inside out and tried to dry the book up as much as I could. Yay for a paper towel and a windy day! I didn't stamp the book, but I did write in it, didn't want my ink to stain the other pages.

It was a great spot though- and a nice little walk. Even with the wind, cold and snow!

FP?; LB

We found it! The fish screen was a hit with the youngest member of our search party! It was a great trail, and if it had been warm and hadn't started raining/sleeting/snowing we probably would have walked further. But, not this time.
A really nice spot though- and in great condition. Been found a lot- and a lot by accident, which I love to see!

ABTSLB: LB

This hadn't been logged since 2007, but we decided to give it a go anyway. It paid off- we had a find!
The directions are old, the display is no longer there, and the book with the LB is no longer on the bottom shelf. But we asked the right employee and she knew what we needed when we asked. YAY!!!
Funny/sad thing is-- it had just been found last month. Just not logged. Alert for new LBer's-- Please, please, please log your finds!!! It really helps.

WA

Our 2nd and last find for the day. We were glad to come across this one though, we could see it from the trail! Either the wind or critters uncovered it, or that last person who did (almost 2 yrs ago) didn't rehide very well. So after we put it back together, we camo'd it.
I love finding boxes that haven't been found in awhile. Especially because not many people are Letterboxing here in Montana. So here is one more box that could have possibly been missing in action because of years of not being found, but it's now a newly active and recent find- YAY!

A find!!! Our first of the day. :)

MRS: LB

The box was there, though water logged. Of course I didn't have spare stuff in my bag. I still haven't refilled it from our summer vacation & LBing tour.

N was super tired- due to a sleepover the night before. We were on our way to Missoula and detoured to do 4 letterboxes on the way. He konked out HARD! We couldn't wake him- but had to on one where we had to hike about a mile. He wasn't very happy with us! Lucky for him he got another 45 minutes of sleep from Lolo Pass till we met his grandmother!!

LPIV

LB is perfectly fine- and it was a great day for a drive. Some drizzle, but the snow (where we live we had a LOT of snow) was not northwest of us.
For those who have had a hard time finding this, but sign in's on the book. The turn out is exactly 1.1 miles down from the visitor center turnout.

Mom liked this tree.
Dad was glad it was easy.
Joe was still wondering about the missing one.
I just wanted to play with all the sticks.

Baring Falls

Hidden in Glacier National Park-- it was still alive and well!

3 in V, MT

Found 2 of the 3 that were up on Bear Creek trailhead.
FOUND: Chaak Ti Witz & Neopets: Uni.
NOT FOUND: Neopets: Lupe
Not bad though-- we looked for almost an hour on the Lupe one. Under so many areas of rocks that our heads spun.
When we moved on the to Uni one, we were very surprised that we actually found it! Not only that, but we were the 1st finders!!! A first for us!

The clues were hard to decipher, for us, on those two. However the Chaak Ti Witz was very easy for us- hip hooray for that! :)

We had along a tagalong to our group. He even logged in via blackberry to see if there were additional clues to help us find it. However, with it getting dark we decided to head home and be glad we found 2!

Kim Williams Gnome Home Letterbox

We forgot our camera- DRATS! However, we did find the box. The trail was full of people, and it probably took us 30 minutes just to find, stamp and rehide it between watching, sneaking and crossing fingers. We'll have to go back for a picture next time we're up in Missoula.

It was a GREAT trail! Wide enough for walkers, dogs & bikes- and all were present.

I am going to take this moment to vent a bit as well. Online the box had only been logged a couple of times. We figured we'd find it and it'd be pretty empty. However, this was not the case. It was a fairly nice sized logbook- and it was almost FULL. Maybe 3 pages left (I did let the owner know) and lots of finders. But 99% of them never logged it in.

I'm glad that I take the time to log in each of my finds, just so that way the owners know it's okay, but also for other LB's to know that it is out there. SO many people look at dates last found, and never search for those who haven't been found in over a year. I hate to think of how many I would have missed if we'd done that as well!

Log your finds- it helps!!
