Lost Texan, in Missouri

Man did we get LOST on our mego-road trip! 2 of us are Native Texan's, one is an Idahoan (doesn't that sound funny?!) however we now are living in Montana. We'd planned to drop it off in Missouri. Yet, we found ourselves in Idaho. I guess we need map reading classes!!

Headed from Twin Falls to Craters of The Moon in the road you want to find. Go past the visitors center to the next scenic over look. If you are headed towards Twin, then it will be the scenic overlook right before the visitor's center.
Go to the center and read about the Craters. From the center sign walk towards the road 12 steps. Turn 25* and go 32 steps. This brings you to the spot. Behind this, tucked under with rocks covering, you will find the Lost Texan.

NS

No luck finding a letterbox, we did find some litter which we picked up and dumped in the propper places.

This place has special meaning to the 2 oldest in our group. Yours truly and my hubs. This is where he proposed so many years ago. I'm a sucker for waterfalls & springs. :)

Maybe on our next trip back we'll have to place a LB here.. we should be back around Easter 2010... now to come up with a spot...

Hippity Hop Fester

We found this one in about 5 different pieces. All close to the hiding spot. Thankfully the stamp wasn't lost and we had a book we could replace the soaked one with. The old log book was a complete loss. We dried it out, cleaned it up and hid it where we think it should have been.

The Alamo 1724

This one has just been replaced, and I'm so glad it was!! We did find it, but that's not what made it exciting. We found the right place and no one was around.

We sent Nater off to get it reminding him to be all sneaky. Well, I look over and look who is walking by! He waved, and went about his business. I had to get a picture of him.

Our 1st brush with the law while letterboxing. HA!
Left a HH here also.

Sea Star That Should Have Been

Find the Hamilton Creek Park near Burnet, TX. Locate the trail that runs along and proceed to the north end where it curves and heads back around to the south. (There is another LB close, 78611, which is what we found and then hid our own!)
Find a rock to rest your feet. Find 110* and you will see a tree growing out of the side hill. Under the side walk material you will find the SS we wished we'd seen!! (The trip to the coast was postpone- and the youngest of the bunch was not too happy about it!)

DWI Memorial Box

What a wonderful, new, place they have created! (Nice hiding spot too.) It was nice to walk around, nice to look at, and a nice place to relax from our very long drive.

PF

While the husband of our LB group grew up here, and his mom (pictured) still lives there- they hadn't been to this place in a long time. He was really bummed that there were no sturgeon left. Nater loved the viewing from underneath the pond.

Madame Moth

We hid a HH here, and wondered about a couple that seemed to keep us not far out of their sites. We were divided by who thought they were LB's and who thought they weren't.
I think they were just enjoying the park, and they wanted the view that this LB gave!!!

My Footprint

The book was almost full, felt bad that I had run out of books during our trip (on my agenda to make some up during the winter hiatus.)

Flight Deck Stowaway

This had to be my most favorite LB find *EVER.*

If you live near Jerome, Idaho, you MUST go find it. It's there, even though no one had officially logged it since 2007.

I promise it's worth it. I even called ZTurtle about it to squeal to her. I wish I'd had a HH to leave there, but I'd dropped them all off before hand.

Road Trip 2009 is almost over!

We've traveled over 6000 miles and found who knows how many LB's! I'm in process of logging them all in at AQ & LB. Pictures are uploaded to my computer and will get them in as soon as I can. But, I will be updating my blog to list the ones we've found and the ones we've hidden.

Fun times were had by everyone. We also got the chance to show the old man of the house's family (both sisters & his mom) what LB was all about. I think one group is seriously addicted- at least the 10 year old was!!

Mr. Potato Head Blows Bubbles

This was a nice easy find- which was wonderful since it was our last one of the day. Nater was worried about getting eaten by spiders & snakes. My MIL and I were listening to them at the picnic table. :)

Stamp in every state: Idaho Pug

What a clever idea- if you see the stamp, you'd understand!

Evel's Scared Dawg

This was at a place we frequent all the time when we come. Nater even got lucky and found a quarter. The dog had us all cracking up! No luck in watching people jump- but we're hoping to see some when we go back for more LB hunts.
This is when he went behind the fence. The LB wasn't there, just down a bit, but I was working on the books and the quarter was spotted. :)

Cabela's

Well, my husband was happy to hunt for this one!! Wasn't where we thought it would be. While he went in to shop, the kid and I looked. We were expecting it to be as far away from the building as it could be! The stamp was super cool too!

Garden Series #5: Innumerable Tulips

Pretty gardens & a pretty place. Had never been to TG point before. We'll have to make a day of it next time we come through.

Be cautious with this one- a big wasp next is buried in the rock right next to it. Wish we'd had some bug gunk with us.

Lehi Sugar Factory

Had hoped to meet a fellow LBer here, however she was at work, and we were headed to Twin Falls. Next time though!!

This one was SO tricky! Busy with construction and a constantly busy intersection. We decided that Nater would look more normal because he's 10 and playing in the rocks IS normal for a 10 yr old!! :)

Catch a Fish or Catch a Rash

This one was near my SIL's house, almost literally! However, no luck in finding it- though we did search. We also did stay clear of the poison ivy!! They (in-law's) plan on doing this for FHE one night as they thought it sounded like loads of fun!!
Isn't this shot pretty? Wish it was lunch time for a picnic!!

Left My Heart in Texas

The "frog" in this family was born & raised as a Texas girl. My heart still resides there- even with more than 5 years away. Texas is home. After a week of being back at home, leaving seemed sad. So I decided to leave a LB at the last rest area before leaving.

Headed into Lariat, Texas (going west bound) you will go by a rest area (parking area) on the right hand side. Pull into the area and find a place to park. You will see a concrete electrical pole right away. On it's backside and under a stone you will find proof that I did indeed leave my heart in Texas.

The Griz

On our trip we brought with us a symbol from home- THE GRIZ! For those of you who have never been to Montana, THE GRIZ is our local college team, just 45 minutes north of our house, located in Missoula, Montana.

Our Griz hitched a ride and found a nice resting spot out of the heat of the day.

At Longhorn Caverns, find the trail that has a 3 minute loop. Take the right hand fork. At post #14 look ahead on the trail and you will see a rock on the right hand side with a yellow dot. Stand in front and look 160 degrees. Around a tree you will find a space for our Griz to hunker down for the winter. His very own rock cave.

We live, obviously, quite far away. Please help with any maint. that might be needed. Also, we'd love to hear about his "keepers" so be sure to post that you've found him!!
